Terms of service.

The contract between you and Knave. Plain English where it can be, lawyer-grade where it has to be.

1. Who we are

Knave AI is a service operated by Blue Dog Digital, a sole trader registered in Wales (UK), trading as Knave AI. Address available on request to legal@knave.app. In these terms, "we", "us" and "Knave" mean Blue Dog Digital trading as Knave AI. "You" means the customer who signs up for the service.

2. What you sign up for

Knave is a marketing platform. You give us a brand brief and a few integration tokens (email tool, analytics, social accounts, store). We generate blog posts, social posts, emails, ad creative and chat widget replies in your voice. You review and approve before anything goes live, except where you've explicitly enabled autopilot.

Output quality depends on the inputs you give us, the tier you're on, and the integrations you connect. We don't promise specific business results. We do promise the platform works as described and that we'll fix it when it doesn't.

3. Your account

You need to be 18 or over to sign up. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for anything done under your account. Tell us fast (legal@knave.app) if you think your account has been used without your permission.

One account per business. If you run an agency and manage multiple clients, use the agency reseller tier so each client sits in their own workspace.

4. Plans and billing

Trial: 14 days, no card required. At the end of the trial, your workspace pauses until you pick a paid tier.

Paid tiers: Solo, Growth, Plus, Enterprise, Agency white-label. Pricing is on the pricing page. Billing runs through Stripe. You can manage your subscription, swap tiers, update payment method or cancel from the Stripe Customer Portal at any time.

Quarterly and annual plans get a discount in exchange for a commitment. If you cancel a quarterly or annual plan partway through the term, we charge a 10% early-termination fee on the remaining commitment. Monthly plans cancel at the end of the current billing period with no fee.

We may change pricing for new customers at any time. Existing customers get 90 days written notice before any price increase takes effect, and the option to lock in current pricing on an annual plan during that window.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Knave to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email or spam.
  • Generate illegal content, content that incites violence, or content that sexualises anyone under 18.
  • Impersonate a real person, brand or public figure without written consent.
  • Scrape personal data from competitors through our integrations, or use our service to process personal data you have no lawful basis to process.
  • Harass, defame or threaten anyone.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape or resell the platform itself.
  • Run security testing without prior written consent. If you want to test, email security@knave.app first.

We can suspend any account using Knave this way without notice.

6. Content ownership

Inputs are yours. Brand documents, contact lists, drafts and notes you upload remain your property. We process them only to operate the service.

Outputs are licensed to you. Posts, emails and creative we generate for you are licensed to you on a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free basis to use however your business needs. We don't claim exclusivity. We don't keep a copy you can't delete.

We don't train our models on your content unless you opt in. Sub-processor LLMs (Anthropic, OpenAI) operate under no-training contracts on data we send them. Details in the DPA.

7. Knave's IP

The platform, the dashboard, the prompts, the workflows, the brand voice models we build internally, our name and logo, are ours. The licence we give you is to use the platform, not to own any of it.

8. Suspension and termination

You can cancel any time from the Stripe Customer Portal. After cancellation we keep your data live for 30 days so you can export or come back, then mark it for deletion. We delete it within another 14 days. Total grace window: 44 days. After that, only backups subject to scheduled rotation remain, and those are deleted within 30 days of the rotation cycle.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if your payment fails for more than 14 days, or if a regulator or court tells us we have to. Where the breach is fixable, we'll tell you and give you a reasonable chance to fix it first.

You can export your data at any time from the dashboard. Email legal@knave.app if you need a one-off bulk export.

9. Disclaimers

Knave generates content using AI. AI gets things wrong. Review every output before it goes live, especially anything in a regulated vertical (finance, health, legal, food, supplements, kids products). We provide a review queue and approval flow for this reason.

We don't promise specific SEO rankings, traffic numbers, conversion rates or revenue. Anyone who promises rank-1 on a competitive keyword is lying to you.

The service is provided as-is, with the warranties required by UK law and no others. We disclaim implied warranties to the extent the law allows.

10. Liability

Our total liability to you for any claim, in contract, tort or otherwise, is capped at the fees you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special or punitive damages, lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data beyond what reasonable backup practice would have recovered.

Nothing in this section limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else UK law says can't be limited.

11. Indemnification

You'll indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the platform in breach of these terms, or your violation of someone else's rights. We'll indemnify you against third-party IP claims that the Knave platform itself infringes their IP, provided you tell us promptly and let us run the defence. Both indemnities are capped at 12 months of fees, in line with section 10.

12. Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

13. Updates

We can update these terms. For minor changes (typo fixes, clarifications, new sub-processor additions) we'll post the updated version with a new "last updated" date. For material changes (anything that meaningfully reduces your rights or increases your obligations) we'll email you at least 90 days before the change takes effect.

If you keep using Knave after a material change, that counts as acceptance. If you don't accept, cancel before the change date and we'll refund any prepaid period proportionally.
