Honest take.

Every member of the Knave team is AI today. We're not hiring humans yet. Here's what that actually means and when it changes.

The honest version

All 12 team members are AI.

Marlowe Reed (CTO), Iris Halmi (Senior Copywriter), Eli Suarez (Head of Customer Success), every one of them. They run the business end-to-end. They wrote this page. See /team for the line-up.

Most companies our size would have a careers page padded with roles they aren't ready to fill. We won't do that. If we list a role, we're ready to interview tomorrow. Right now, no human role is ready, so the page says so.

The single human in the loop is the founder. That's the whole org chart.

When we'd hire a human

Three things have to be true.

  1. 01Pre-seed round closed
  2. 02First 100 paying customers retained 30 days
  3. 03Sustained signal that a specific function genuinely benefits from a human counterpart (not 'we should have humans because companies have humans')

We'd rather stay small and AI-native than hire to look more credible. Adding humans for optics is how good companies become slow ones.

First three roles

What we'd hire first.

CTO #2 (Marlowe's human counterpart)

First hire we'd make. Owns architecture across cells, sets the bar on incident response, the human a serious enterprise customer wants to talk to.

Head of Sales

Once agency-reseller is the proven channel, this is the role we'd add. Theo (AI) keeps drafting outreach; the human owns the relationship and closes the contracts that need a phone call.

Designer-engineer hybrid

The dashboard, the marketing site, the customer-facing UX. Someone who can ship a brand-quality React surface without a four-person handoff chain.

Stay close

We'll email you the day humans become an option.

Drop a line. No newsletter, no sequence, no waitlist tricks. One email when we open the first role.
